Characters in Devil Hunters have three stats: brutality, flow, and smartness. With only three stats, and zero substats, players have less numbers to worry about. This allows for rolls to resolve faster than the average TTRPG.
The resource used for devil abilities is tied to the player's Blood Gauge. This resource replenishes to the player's max health at the start of each round of combat, but using blood makes players vulnerable to higher damage. This risk/reward encourages players to use abilities more often, while working as a team to remain in stable condition.
By removing the need to roll for damage, removing turn order/initiative, allowing devil abilities to be used at any time, and giving enemies additional turns on failed rolls; the pace of combat is much faster than other TTRPGs. This keeps combat more engaging and energetic for the players.
